No-deposit bonus: a gift with a ceiling
By Ilze Krūmiņa · updated October 2026
A no-deposit bonus is a small amount of bonus money or a batch of spins given without a deposit. It is an easy way to look at games and the cashier without risking your own money. From a withdrawal point of view, though, it carries the most restrictions of any bonus, because the operator is risking its own money and protecting itself against people who open accounts only for freebies.
Exact percentages, wagering multipliers and deadlines are set by the operator's bonus terms. They change, so read the current version before you activate anything. Amounts in examples are in your account currency.
Three limits that appear at withdrawal
- Win cap. Only a set amount can usually be withdrawn from a no-deposit bonus. Anything above it is removed.
- Wagering. Winnings must be wagered, often with a higher multiplier than deposit bonuses.
- Deposit before withdrawal. Some terms require at least one deposit to confirm a payment method before a payout.
Worked example
Suppose you receive 10 with no deposit, wagering 40 times and a withdrawal cap of 50. To meet the requirement you must bet 400. Most of the time the bonus runs out before that — which is normal. If you do finish with a balance of 90, you can withdraw 50 and the rest is removed. The numbers are illustrative, but the logic is typical. Treat a no-deposit bonus as a free tour, not as income.
One bonus per person — and per household
No-deposit bonuses are the ones most often claimed repeatedly through multiple accounts. So the terms almost always limit them to one per person, household, IP address or device. Before a payout you will almost certainly be asked to complete verification. If someone in your household already claimed the same offer from the same device, yours may be voided. Read that clause before activating.
Real offer or bait?
If a third-party site promises a large no-deposit amount "today only" or a code that "definitely works", compare it with what is published on the operator's own site. A genuine bonus is always described in the operator's terms. If it is not there, the operator has no obligation to honour it and you will have nothing to point to in a dispute. More on Promo codes.
Using it sensibly
- Read the win cap and wagering before the first spin.
- Choose games that contribute fully to wagering.
- Watch the maximum bet — it is easiest to break here.
- When the bonus runs out, do not deposit to "win it back". It was a gift, not your money.
If a payout from a no-deposit bonus is delayed, start with Withdrawal status. All bonus types are on Bonuses.
