Complaints: a process that works better than an angry forum post
By Ilze Krūmiņa · updated October 2026
Disputes with casinos are almost always about money: a delayed or declined withdrawal, voided bonus winnings, a deposit that was never credited. This page sets out a step-by-step process — from the first message to support up to the regulator — that gives the best chance of a clear answer. We cannot resolve disputes for you, but we can help you organise one.
Before you complain: gather facts
- Deposit and withdrawal history with dates and amounts.
- Screenshots of the cashier showing statuses.
- Copies of chats and emails with support.
- The version of the terms in force when you activated the bonus or requested the withdrawal.
- Bank statements if the issue concerns a deposit.
The four-step ladder
| Step | Where | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Written question | Operator support (email or chat) | An explanation or a request for documents |
| 2. Formal complaint | The complaints procedure in the operator's terms | A written decision with reasons |
| 3. Licensing regulator | The regulator that issued the operator's licence | Review under its own procedure |
| 4. Your bank | Your bank, for card payments | An investigation of the payment |
Which regulator is yours
The regulator is the one named in the operator's terms or footer alongside the licence number. Its website explains how it handles player complaints; some regulators also refer players to an approved independent dispute-resolution service. If the operator has no verifiable licence at all, protecting your rights is very difficult — which is why licences should be checked before depositing, not after a dispute.
Writing a formal complaint
- Subject line: "Formal complaint", account identifier, date.
- Brief facts: what happened, when and the amount.
- What you have already done: dates you contacted support and their replies.
- Why you disagree: references to specific clauses in the terms.
- What you are asking for: pay the amount, restore the winnings, give a reasoned decision.
- Attachments: screenshots and copies of correspondence.
Write calmly and without insults. Complaints are read by people, and a clear, structured text with facts is taken more seriously.
When to involve your bank
If money was taken from your card but never credited, and the operator cannot locate the payment, your bank can investigate where it stopped. This applies to uncredited deposits, not to lost bets — a bank will not refund money lost in play that followed the rules.
What not to do
Do not open new accounts to "get around" a blocked one, do not pay upfront fees to "recovery services", and do not post your documents on forums. If the dispute is weighing on you or tempting you to play to recover losses, stop and read Responsible gambling. Common causes of delays: Withdrawal status; a message template: Contacting support.
