Bet types: one prediction, different risks

By Ilze Krūmiņa · updated October 2026

The same prediction can be placed in different ways, and the bet type changes both the risk and when the money comes back to your balance. Here are the main types with simple examples.

Single

One event, one outcome. The clearest option: the risk is obvious and the bet settles right after the event. A stake of 10 at odds of 2.20 returns 22 if the prediction is right.

Accumulator

Several events on one slip, and all must win. Odds multiply: three events at 1.70 give 1.70 × 1.70 × 1.70 ≈ 4.91. With a stake of 10 that is a potential 49.10. But probabilities multiply too: if each event has a 56% chance, all three together have about 18%. The margin multiplies as well, so it is noticeably higher in an accumulator than in a single.

System

A "2 from 3" system turns three events into three doubles. The stake is split between them: 30 on the system means three bets of 10. If two events win, one double wins; if all three win, all three doubles win. A system reduces risk compared with an accumulator, but the potential return is smaller too.

Handicaps and totals

ExampleMeaning
Handicap −1.5The team must win by at least two goals or points
Handicap +1.5The team may lose by no more than one goal or point
Over 2.5 goalsThree or more goals in the match
Total 5.0Exactly five goals usually means the stake is returned

Bet type and access to your money

A single settles after one event and the money is back quickly. Accumulators and systems settle after the last event, which may be days away. If you plan a withdrawal, remember that money in open bets is not available. Bonus terms often require minimum odds per accumulator leg or for the whole slip — see Bonus terms.

Where beginners should start

With singles and small stakes. Accumulators look attractive because adverts show big potential returns — which is exactly why they lose more often. Keep a simple record of your bets and results; after a month the numbers will tell you more than your memory of one lucky night.
