Mastercard: when something changes with your card

By Ilze Krūmiņa · updated October 2026

Technically, Mastercard works in a cashier just like Visa: details, approval, balance. So this page focuses on something else — the everyday situations that turn a card into a problem at withdrawal time. A lost card, a reissued card, a second card "just for games": each one affects where and how money comes back.

The set of methods and the limits depend on the account — check the cashier.

The card must be in your name

The name on the card and the name in your profile must match. Small spelling differences can usually be explained, but a card issued to someone else — even a spouse — is different: the deposit may go through, but the withdrawal will be held until the operator is satisfied the money belongs to the account holder. Do not use other people's cards, not even once.

Lost or reissued card

Say you deposited with your old card and a week later the bank reissued it with a new number. A payout to the old card is no longer possible. Tell support the card was replaced, attach the bank's confirmation if you have it, and ask for the withdrawal by bank transfer to an account in your name. The earlier you mention it, the fewer questions at payout time.

Two cards in one account

A separate card "for gaming" is a reasonable idea if it is the only one you use. But with both your main card and the new one on file, each needs its own verification and the payout may be split in proportion to deposits. Pick one card and stick to it.

Declined payment — quick checklist

If everything is in order and declines continue, try open banking instead of further card attempts.

Mastercard and withdrawals

The logic matches Visa: the deposited amount usually returns to the card and the rest goes to a bank account. If Mastercard is absent from the withdrawal options, the cashier has another route planned. Before the first withdrawal, upload a photo of the card in Verification, with the middle digits and CVV covered.

Frequently asked questions

My card was stolen after a deposit — what now?
Block the card with your bank and tell the operator's support. Ask for the payout to a bank account in your name and keep the blocking confirmation.
Can I deposit with a family member's card?
No. The card must be in the account holder's name, otherwise the withdrawal will be held.
Why verify each card separately?
So the operator can confirm every card belongs to you. Using a single card is simpler.
Why was my payout split between card and bank?
That is the closed-loop rule: the deposited amount goes back to the card, the rest by transfer.
